.Chemistry, 8th Edition. DescriptionFor two-semester general chemistry courses (science majors). This package includes Mastering Chemistry.Give students a robust conceptual foundation while building critical problem solving skillsRobinson/McMurry/Fay’s Chemistry, known for a concise and united author voice, conceptual focus, extensive worked examples, and thoroughly constructed connections between organic, biological, and general chemistry, highlights the application of chemistry to students’ lives and careers. Lead author Jill Robinson strengthens the student orientation by creating more engaging, active learning opportunities for students and faculty. With the 8th Edition, Robinson draws upon her exceptional teaching skills to provide new interactive experiences that help identify and address students’ preconceptions. Robinson complements active engagement in the text with a new media program that increases student awareness of their learning process via Mastering Chemistry and the Pearson eText, allowing instructors to choose the level of interactivity appropriate for their classroom. Interactive experiences include activities that guide students in how to actively read a science text and address common preconceptions, giving students opportunities to cultivate and practice problem-solving skills.Reach every student by pairing this text with Mastering ChemistryMastering™ is the teaching and learning digital platform that empowers you to reach every student. Big Idea questions provide new interactivity within the eText and teach students how to actively read a science text by modeling the kinds of questions they should ask themselves, prompting them to summarize main points, and stimulating them to make connections between concepts and mathematical problems. These questions help ensure students are familiar with main concepts and terms before coming to class. Activities like this also improve retention and comprehension by asking students to answer questions at the end of reading a section for retrieval practice.
Newly Interactive - Figure It Out questions provide new interactivity within the eText so students can test themselves at the point of learning and receive instant, answer-specific feedback written by author Jill Robinson. Questions appear with select figures and encourage students to look at each illustration more carefully and recognize general lessons offered in the figure. New - Practice Tests provide assessment for chapter learning objectives and additional instruction in concepts and problem-solving skills in the printed text as well as in the eText and Mastering Chemistry. When students miss a problem, they are instructed to consult the study guide for additional instruction and practice problems. When a student answers incorrectly in Mastering Chemistry or the eText, their practice exam automatically links to worked examples and additional practice problems. Updated - Inquiry sections highlight the importance of chemistry, promote student interest, and deepen student understanding of the content by showcasing problems that revisit several chapter concepts. These problems can be covered in class, recitation sections, or assigned as homework in Mastering Chemistry.Build problem-solving skills and help students develop critical thinking.
New and Updated - Worked Examples provide more than any other text on the market and are tightly integrated into the text’s flow and concise narrative. Select Worked Examples include videos of author Jill Robinson showing students how to work through the examples.
Crc Exam Guide To Success 8th Edition
Newly interactive Practice and Apply problems accompany each Worked Example in the eText and are assignable in Mastering Chemistry. New - 49 Problem-Solving Videos (at least two per chapter) help students see every step of the problem-solving process and feature Jill Robinson working out problems in the text. These dynamic videos are provided in Mastering Chemistry, referenced in the print text, and are also embedded in the eText.
Updated - End-of-Chapter Problems have been reviewed and analyzed by author Jill Robinson for accuracy and to ensure each problem is tied to a learning objective in the end-of-chapter Study Guide. Reach every student with MasteringTeach your course your way:Your course is unique. So whether you would like to build your own auto-graded assignments, foster student engagement during class, or give students anytime, anywhere access, Mastering gives you the flexibility to easily create yourcourse to fit yourneeds. With Learning Catalytics, you will hear from every student when it matters most. You pose a variety of questions that help students recall ideas, apply concepts, and develop critical-thinking skills.
Your students respond using their own smartphones, tablets, or laptops. You can monitor responses with real-time analytics and find out what your students do — and don’t — understand. Then, you can adjust your teaching accordingly and even facilitate peer-to-peer learning, helping students stay motivated and engaged. Learning Catalytics includes prebuilt questions for every key topic in Chemistry, written by lead author Jill Robinson and team.
Ready-to-Go Teaching Modules provide organized material for every tough topic in General Chemistry. Created for and by instructors, the modules provide a guide for easy-to-use assignments for before and after class plus in-class activities with clicker questions and questions in Learning Catalytics™.
Modules can be easily accessed via Mastering Chemistry. New - Ready-to-Go Study Tools are available for students to use on their own, even when their professor doesn’t assign the modules. Empower each learner: Each student learns at a different pace. Personalized learning, including adaptive tools and wrong-answer feedback, pinpoints the precise areas where each student needs practice and gives all students the support they need — when and where they need it — to be successful. New - Ready-to-Go Study Tools in the Mastering Chemistry Study Area help students master the toughest topics (as identified by professors and fellow students completing homework and practicing for exams).
